Spite house is a building near Baščaršija which was originally built at the place of a current City hall. In order to build City hall, it was necessary to destroy two han’s and one private house. Owner of this house was demanding that he should be paid a certain fee and also that house should be moved on the other side of the river Miljacka, across the City hall. That’s what they did and because of the owner spite they named house, ‘spite house’. Today, spite house is serving as a restaurant with a traditional Bosnian cuisine.
